There are two big benefits to writing and distributing your articles online. One is the optimization value of those links to your site that you have in the author's resource boxes. That is all that some internet marketers are aiming for, which is what the quality of their writing shows.
This is about how to write interesting articles though. In addition to getting those links, why not give something of value to the reader? That way you can get the other major benefit of article distribution; direct traffic from to your site or blog from those articles. Here are some tips.
An unread article can't be interesting to anyone, right? So be sure that you give browsers a reason to start reading, meaning a title that catches their attention. "How To" titles do well, but many other options are available. Just ask yourself of each title, "Would this make me want to read the article?"
On any given topic, there are a many articles out there that have similar same things to say, and maybe even the same five tips. That's inevitable, and you don't want to leave out good advice just because others are giving it too. But to really make an article more interesting, have at least an original story (in a few lines or less) or one bit of advice that readers probably haven't seen elsewhere. For example, most readers of this page will not have read the following advice.
You want to inform the reader, but you also want that reader to come to your website using the link that follows the article. To accomplish that, it helps to withhold some information, and make it clear that there is more to know. Then, in the resource box, you can suggest that the reader will find that missing information on your website.
For example, suppose you have an article about how to get out of financial trouble. One paragraph might say, "There are many tricks to paying off your credit cards as quickly as possible. One is to reduce expenses and apply the money saved to reducing debt. You should learn and apply a few others as well." The reader is now left wondering what the other tricks are.
Then, in your resource box, the reader sees this: "To learn the absolute fastest way to pay off credit card debt, visit..." followed by your link. You might also link the important keywords (probably "pay off credit card debt") to your site. You hinted at more in the article, and told them how to get it in the resource box. That makes for an interesting article and gets the click.
Some people can make any topic into a humorous article, and that is one way to write interesting articles. But don;t do it if it doesn't work for you. You might be better at straight-forward tips, or at explaining complicated things in simple terms. Go where your talents lead you to develop a style that makes for more interesting reading.
