How to Produce Content Efficiently
I received the following question in my email, about how I
produce content efficiently for my many websites and newsletters:
I enjoy the wide range of content that you provide - does
it take a lot of time to assemble and publish this material or
are there ways to put together quality content in a short period
of time?
My answer...
I like to write and I have a wide variety of interests, so
that makes it easier to produce a lot of content. It is always
easier to write about things that interest you. I have been hiring
help lately though, because with about thirty websites and a
half-dozen newsletters it's getting beyond my ability to write
enough.
Fortunately there also some are tricks to efficiently producing
interesting material. For example, I could take your question
along with this answer and put it in my Internet Income newsletter
or on a website. Other people are wondering the same thing after
all, and reusing what I have written--even the answer to this
email--is a way to generate content more efficiently. I have
even searched through old emails for content, and I usually quickly
find some response of mine that should be a page.
On my site EveryWayToMakeMoney.com I have a section called
People
Making Money, which consists of interviews. I do the interviews
by email. That way I can just quickly type out seven or eight
questions, and--once they respond--copy and paste everything
into a page with a quick introduction. Another way to make an
interesting page quickly is to have a friend email you
some questions so you can use the resulting interview as a page.
I try not to just rewrite existing articles I've done, although
if you are putting the new version on a different website that
too is a quick way to produce content. Of course, you always
have the option of buying articles and pages. The good writers
are usually not the $5-per-article ones--although I've been lucky
on occasion with those. My best source at the moment charges
me $18 for a page, or $22 for those that are more involved and
require a few minutes of online research. I found him through
Elance.
As for the publishing part, that gets faster as you get to
know how to use your page maker, or--in the case of email newsletters--your
autoresponder software. Once it is written I can put a page up
in a couple minutes, including linking to it from the homepage
and site map.
I'm going to have a new page up on how to produce content
in the next few weeks. It will cover many more ways. I will announce
it in the Internet Income Newsletter (if you are not already
subscribed you can use the form in the side bar to the right).
