Writing an Article
The Four Most Important Elements
When you are writing and article in order to promote your
online business or website, there are a lot of things that can
help it successfully drive traffic to your site. The following
are the most important.
1. Keyword Optimization
Most people will not find your article by browsing through
the directories where you have posted it. They will start with
a search engine, and if it doesn't show up in the results, chances
are good that they will never see it. This is why you have to
target a keyword that is being used in searches, and have it
in the title, first and last paragraph (at a minimum).
2. Catchy Title
In addition to having the targeted search phrase in the title
(the keyword), you also want the title to be descriptive and
attention-getting. "How To.." is a good start, as is
a question, such as "Are You Making These Writing Mistakes?"
Consider a few titles and be as objective as you can in deciding
which is most likely to make a casual reader want to click through
to your article.
3. Good Content
You got their attention, but you also have to deliver on the
promise of that title. If your title is "Three Secret Ways
To Get Free Food," you better have at least one or two ways
that the average reader has not heard of. You have to hole their
attention to the end, because that is where your "About
the Author," or "Author's Resource Box" is, and
that has the link to your site.
4. A Compelling Resource Box
Once the reader arrives at the end of the article, the point
is to have him or her click on the link to visit your website.
Don't waste this opportunity bragging about yourself. Instead
give a good reason why it is worth going to your site. A free
ebook or newsletter can help, or you can promise three more secret
ways to do whatever that can be found on your site.
There are other things that to consider when writing an article
for use online, but these are the four most important elements
that you need to have.
